Traditional Caprese Salad with Extra Virgin Olive Oil

What You Need

Ingredients

  • 3-4 ripe tomatoes
  • 250-300 g fresh mozzarella or mozzarella di bufala
  • 8-10 fresh basil leaves
  • 2-3 tbsp premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, optional

How To Make It

Instructions

1

Prepare the Tomatoes

Wash the tomatoes and slice them into even rounds. Choose ripe, firm tomatoes with plenty of natural flavour.

2

Slice the Mozzarella

Slice the fresh mozzarella into rounds similar in thickness to the tomatoes. If using mozzarella di bufala, allow it to drain slightly before slicing.

3

Arrange the Salad

Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices on a serving plate, alternating them to create a simple, colourful pattern.

4

Add the Basil

Tear the fresh basil leaves gently and scatter them over the tomatoes and mozzarella. Avoid cutting or crushing the basil too much. The goal is to preserve its fresh aroma.

5

Season Simply

Add a light sprinkle of salt over the salad. Freshly ground black pepper can be added if desired.

6

Finish With Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Drizzle generously with premium Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil just before serving. The fruity character of the olive oil brings the tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil together.

The Story

Why Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil Matters

Caprese has very few ingredients, so the olive oil plays an important role in the final flavour.

Premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil adds fruitiness, freshness, aroma, and a gentle peppery finish without overwhelming the delicate mozzarella.

For Radice, choosing the right olive oil begins with knowing its origin. Our Classic Extra Virgin Olive Oil comes from Basilicata, Southern Italy, and is made from an Ogliarola and Coratina blend. Its green, balanced character and soft peppery finish make it a natural pairing for fresh Italian dishes.

A Simple Taste of Italy
